...of Earth & Spirit
Earth Song
When the tears start falling
And my heart dives down deep
And my crying does not seem to cease
And down my face the rivers creep
Until I plead for peace…
Sing! says my Mother;
Sing until you smile –
Until your heart leaps from your chest,
Until the fledglings fly the nest,
Until the sun lays down to rest –
Sing the River Nile!
And when the people feed the hate
And feed the wars and feed the blood
And shun the needy and the poor
And throw themselves upon the mud
And still cry out for more…
Sing! says my Mother;
Sing until they live –
Until they know the song they killed,
Until they feel the hate they willed,
Until their emptiness is filled –
Sing with love to give!
And when the planet feels the pain
And when her dying body heaves
And when her sadness fills my core
And while the painful web still weaves
Until my soul cries out, no more...!
Sing! says my Mother Earth;
Sing until they see –
Until the cosmos lives as one,
Until our victory is won,
‘Til once again my song is sung –
Sing my spirit free!

A fragile, floating bubble swirling aqua, green and white,
A Chinese lantern glowing through the blackness of the night.
A Christmas decoration hanging on a haggard thread,
A large and precious jade stone with splattered flecks of red.
An oily coloured marble softly spinning in my hand,
A tangled web of tumbleweed that rolls across dry land.
A snowball caught in rays of sun, melting...melting...gone,
A fading, fading image of a light bulb still switched on.
An aura of a candle shining softly while I sleep,
A light within the dark that offers comfort when I weep.
A tethered, leathered football, kicked and thrown and tossed,
A perfect, rounded crystal found in early hours of frost.
A spectacle of wonders, yet unsurpassed in worth,
A vision of creation that surrounds us at our birth.
